Get your boots on for the Sustainable Trails Conference

TRC hosts Australia and New Zealand’s leading Sustainable Trails Conference.

Participants are from a broad discipline of trail interests — trail users, designers, planners, land managers, volunteers, clubs and construction experts. TRC planned and hosted all components of the inaugural conference held in Thredbo (New South Wales) attracting 100 delegates and receiving excellent feedback. The second conference was held in Marlborough (New Zealand) and we just hosted our third conference at the start of this month in Alice Springs (Northern Territory).

The Sustainable Trails Conference covers topics relevant to all types of trails (water-based, walking, cycling, shared and single use), with specialist trail presenters sharing lessons learned and best practice in:

  • cross jurisdiction collaboration and partnerships- complementary experience development
  • linking trails to become networks and telling the story (natural, cultural and historical)
  • funding
  • governance
  • environmental and cultural values protection.

We also address topics such as: opportunities for sharing cultural stories; opportunities for communities; establishing united visions that produce multiple stakeholder benefits; and defining what a successful trails experience is and should be.

The conferences, relationships with participating delegates and shared research and lessons learned have further enhanced TRC’s awareness and ability in delivering tailored trail planning and designs to exceptional standard.
