Description
TRC Trails is proud to be part of the transformative 60km shared walking and mountain bike trail around Lake Jindabyne. This exciting project includes 30km of new trail construction and upgrades to 30km of existing paths, creating a recreational asset that will enhance tourism and economic growth in the Snowy Monaro region.
Partnering with the Snowy Monaro Regional Council, TRC Trails has brought their vision to life, upgrading key sections like Cobbon Crescent to Jindabyne Dam Wall and Jindabyne Boat Ramp to Hatchery Bay. With expertise in trail design, construction, and environmental management, TRC Trails is committed to delivering high-quality, sustainable infrastructure that meets all standards while respecting the natural beauty of the area.
CHALLENGES
1. Environmental Sensitivity & Compliance
Challenge: The trail passes through environmentally sensitive areas, requiring strict adherence to environmental regulations and minimisation of ecological impact.
Solution: We have implemented best-practice environmental management, including erosion control, revegetation where needed, and minimal disruption to flora and fauna. Our team will also ensure compliance with all legislative requirements through regular audits and reporting.
2. Weather & Terrain Constraints
Challenge: The mountainous terrain and potential for adverse weather conditions could impact construction schedules and safety.
Solution: We conducted thorough site assessments and plan construction phases around seasonal conditions. Our team is experienced in working in challenging terrains and use of specialised equipment to maintain efficiency.
3. Maintaining Public Access & Safety
Challenge: The site is a popular recreational area, meaning public access must be managed while construction is underway.
Solution: We implemented clear signage, temporary diversions, and controlled work zones to ensure public safety while keeping disruptions minimal.
4. Design Adjustments & Trail Durability
Challenge: The existing concept design may require on-site modifications to optimize trail alignment and durability.
Solution: Our team conducted design reviews and collaborated with stakeholders to make necessary adjustments while ensuring the final trail meets all safety and quality standards.
5. Logistics & Site Access
Challenge: Mobilising materials and equipment in remote sections may be difficult.
Solution: We developed a detailed logistics plan, including access routes, material storage areas, and staged construction approaches to ensure efficiency.
By leveraging our extensive expertise in trail construction and adaptive problem-solving, TRC Trails is well-equipped to navigate these challenges and deliver a high-quality, sustainable trail network for the community.
